Shortly after being called to the Manning Baptist Church as their music director, Marian and I started searching for a local contractor to build our home. After interviewing with John, we immediately felt confident that he was the right builder and could meet our expectations.
John's design build approach gave us the opportunity of purchasing a stock set of plans and then having him make the design changes that we wanted in the home. His attention to detail in making these changes coupled with defining specifications and developing a cost-to-build estimate gave us a complete understanding of what materials, products and costs were going to be incorporated into our home.
During the building process, John and Bobby's on-site supervision and hands-on ability gave us even more confidence that we were going to get a quality built home.
One of the best statements I have ever heard about John and Bobby's work came from a county building inspector performing one of the many required inspections on our home. At the conclusion of our conversation, he stated "You can tell who is building a home by the quality of materials and labor, and your builder is one of the best."
Marian and I have been very pleased with the quality and workmanship of our home. And we were exuberated that our home was completed within budget. In response to the few problems that we encountered, and you always have little problems, the work was performed in a timely manner and fixed to our complete satisfaction. After almost eight years of owning a recreational tract of land five miles southeast of Manning, and the partners dwindling from six members to three members, we finally decided to build a cabin.
With three members trying to decide on exactly what to build compounded by the three members wives wanting their input to be considered, I thought we would never get everyone happy and begin construction.
John came to the rescue and designed our cabin for us with a little bit of everyone’s ideas incorporated. We went from a typical ‘mans hunting camp’ design to a cabin I truly believe L.L. Bean himself would be proud to call home.
From the minute the foundation was finished, even a layman could see that John and Bobby were neat, organized and meticulous about their construction business.
Bobby Osborne learned well from his families previous five generations of builders and he has the easiest demeanor of anyone with whom I have ever been associated.
We now have a beautiful cabin on 550 acres. We cannot wait for the week-ends to escape the hustle and bustle and retreat to the quiet peacefulness of the country in real comfort.

John Lesemann was referred to me by Joette Wielicki, a Real Estate Agent with Agent-Owned Realty in Manning, SC. When I began to tell John of my vision to build a house for an abused/domestic violence haven for women, he became very interested in working with me to accomplish this vision God had given me.
He designed a one story house plan which was ideally suited for the women who would be living there. During the course of developing final plans, specifications, contract documents and a cost estimate, John was very responsive to my request to build as inexpensive as possible without cutting any corners. Knowing that this was not the normal custom type home that John and Bobby are accustomed to building, they gave this project the same detail attention. When the house was completed, dedicated and ready to be moved into and John presented me with the final cost invoice, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the final cost came in several thousand dollars under budget.
It was a pleasure to work with John and Bobby both before and during the construction. They were always willing to accommodate every one of my needs and changes as they arised. I feel that God brought the J D Lesemann Company into my life at a time of need. The house more than meets the needs of the women who are coming to stay temporarily until they can get back into a safe environment.
